PETER M. REES AIA, founding principal of Rees Architects LLC, is an architect and educator with over forty years experience in all aspects of architectural practice, with a particular strength in bringing high quality design solutions to the diverse needs and aspirations of his clients. With both this and his previous firm, Rees Hudacek LLC, he has completed dozens of residential projects throughout Seattle, coastal Washington, and British Columbia, as well as commercial, industrial and mixed-use buildings.
In 1988, Mr. Rees founded the Seattle office of Paul Segal Associates Architects, a twenty five year old New York based practice. Under his direction, the office successfully provided design and technical services for many diverse projects in Seattle, including the Children's Museum at Seattle Center, new offices and lab facilities for the Puget Sound Air Pollution Control Agency , and the adaptive reuse of the early twentieth century Harold Poll Building.
In the 1980's, Mr. Rees practiced with Daryl Jackson Pty. Ltd. in Australia, serving as project architect/designer for projects for the Republic of Singapore including official residences and a new High Commission Chancery Building in Canberra. He also worked on the landmark Hotel Canberra and the Australian Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
As an educator, Mr. Rees has been on the faculty of the University of Washington and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, teaching design and professional practice. He served as a founding board member for the UW CADD Certificate Program and represented the UW as a fellow of the AIA/ACSA Summer Design/Practice Institute. He chaired the Seattle AIA Education Committee and initiated a UW Extension lecture series for continuing professional education, "Reflections on Materials".
